Our client is an established energy infrastructure developer with decades of experience delivering large-scale clean energy and digital infrastructure projects. Operating across the UK and wider Europe, they have built a portfolio exceeding 5 GW across solar, battery storage, wind, and data centre developments.
With in-house expertise across grid, land, design, legal and planning, the company manages projects end-to-end and is now expanding its technical team in London.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to take a leading role in grid feasibility, system analysis, and connection strategy for our clients growing renewable and storage portfolio.
This role involves hands-on power system modelling, detailed technical assessments, and close collaboration with DNOs/National Grid. The engineer will work alongside the Grid Manager and wider development teams, ensuring all projects meet the required technical, regulatory, and commercial criteria.
This is a high-impact position suited to someone who can operate with technical autonomy and apply strong independent judgement on what analyses each project requires.
Key responsibilities
- Perform dynamic stability, reactive power, and voltage compensation studies for large-scale solar, battery, and hybrid projects.
- Carry out EMT compliance assessments and develop mitigation strategies for energisation, fault behaviour, and inverter stability.
- Conduct dynamic EMT modelling for grid-forming inverter applications, ensuring stability and system support requirements are met.
- Lead feasibility assessments for new connections to UK networks at 11kVâ400kV.
- Prepare, review, and manage grid connection applications with DNOs and National Grid.
- Analyse connection offers, constraints, and technical obligations to support project decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with G99, G100, and all relevant grid codes and standards.
- Assess grid capacity, reinforcement needs, voltage performance, and congestion impacts.
- Recommend technical solutions to optimise project performance and reduce grid risk.
- Apply independent technical judgement to determine which studies and assessments each project requires.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3â5+ years hands-on experience conducting power system modelling for renewable or storage projects.
- Proven experience in Dynamic stability studies, Reactive power and compensation analysis, EMT compliance and energisation studies, Grid-forming inverter modelling and stability assessments.
- Strong understanding of UK transmission & distribution networks and relevant grid codes.
- Experience interfacing with DNOs and/or National Grid.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong independent decision-making ability regarding project-specific technical needs.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward registration.
