About the Opportunity
I’m working with a growing electrical distribution business that is rapidly expanding its presence across the UK. They provide essential infrastructure for new developments and connections, supporting everything from residential schemes to commercial, industrial, and renewable energy projects.
With a strong pipeline of work, they are now investing in their programme delivery capability and are seeking a PMO Manager / Programme Manager to help shape governance, improve efficiency, and drive consistency across projects.
The Role
We’re looking for a PMO Manager / Programme Manager who can establish and lead a robust project governance framework, oversee a diverse project portfolio, and ensure delivery is efficient, compliant, and strategically aligned with business growth.
You’ll work across technical, operational, commercial and regulatory teams, ensuring programmes are delivered to time, cost and quality, while embedding consistency and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance the PMO framework: governance, reporting, risk & issue management, change control
- Lead programme oversight: ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality standards are achieved
- Provide regular programme reporting and analysis for senior stakeholders
- Support, mentor, and coach project managers to raise delivery standards across the business
- Manage portfolio prioritisation, resources, and dependencies across projects
- Liaise with both internal stakeholders and external contractors / ICPs to align delivery
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and technical standards
- Drive process improvement, operational efficiency, and standardisation
What We’re Looking For
- Proven track record in PMO, programme, or portfolio management, ideally within utilities, energy, or infrastructure
- Knowledge of electricity distribution / IDNO / DNO / ICP environment would be highly beneficial
- Strong experience in governance, risk, reporting, and resource management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, across technical and executive audiences
- Experience leading or mentoring project managers
- Analytical, structured, and commercially aware approach
- Relevant qualifications (Prince2, MSP, PMP) or degree in engineering, project management, or business are desirable
