London Full-Time On-site

Role: Programme Manager | Electrical Networks & Infrastructure

Location: Remote, occasional travel to London

Length: Initial 3-6 month contract - will likely be extended

I'm working with an established and growing UK electrical infrastructure business looking to appoint an experienced Head of Programme Management to oversee a diverse portfolio of electrical network and energy infrastructure projects.

This is a senior delivery-focused position requiring someone with a strong technical understanding of LV, HV and EHV electrical networks (up to 132kV), ideally developed within the ICP, IDNO or wider electricity distribution sector.

The successful individual will take ownership of programme delivery, ensuring multiple complex projects progress safely, commercially and efficiently from planning and design through construction, commissioning and energisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a diverse portfolio of electrical infrastructure, grid connections and energy projects across the UK.

  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery against programme milestones, budgets and commercial objectives.

  • Manage and coordinate Project Managers, engineering teams, ICP delivery partners, subcontractors and external stakeholders.

  • Oversee the delivery of LV, HV and EHV network infrastructure, including substations, cable installations, network connections and associated electrical works.

  • Manage critical programme dependencies, including DNO interfaces, planned outages, commissioning, energisation and network adoption.

  • Identify and resolve technical, operational and commercial delivery risks, ensuring effective contingency planning and programme recovery.

  • Maintain oversight of project financial performance, contract governance, procurement, resource allocation and CAPEX expenditure.

  • Work closely with senior leadership to provide clear reporting on portfolio performance, delivery risks and strategic priorities.

  • Drive improvements in programme governance, contractor performance and delivery processes.

Experience Required

  • Significant experience in electrical network infrastructure delivery, ideally within an ICP, IDNO, DNO or specialist HV/EHV contractor.

  • Strong technical understanding of LV through to 132kV distribution networks, including connections, substations, commissioning and energisation.

  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of concurrent electrical infrastructure projects, rather than solely individual project delivery.

  • Previous experience in a senior Programme Manager, Portfolio Manager, Head of Delivery, Operations Manager or equivalent position.

  • Strong commercial understanding, including NEC contracts, procurement, cost management, programme budgets and contractor performance.

  • Experience coordinating DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, developers and delivery partners across complex infrastructure programmes.

  • Ability to confidently challenge technical decisions, manage competing priorities and resolve delivery issues.

  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.

Experience across renewable generation connections, BESS, EV infrastructure, commercial and industrial connections or wider electricity distribution infrastructure would be particularly relevant.

  • Remote, with occasional project travel & office visits

  • Up to Β£550 per day

  • Initial 3-6 months, rolling contract

  • ASAP

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical networks delivery professional to take ownership of a significant infrastructure portfolio and play a key role in driving programme performance.
