The Company

Our client is a leading developer and operator of utility-scale renewable energy projects across Europe, with a growing portfolio of solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) developments throughout the UK. As their UK project portfolio continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced Grid Delivery Manager to take ownership of the delivery and construction of high-voltage grid connections, ensuring projects are successfully energised and handed over safely, on time and within budget.

The Role

This is a delivery-focused position responsible for managing the construction and energisation of grid connections for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Working closely with the Head of Construction, EPC contractors, ICPs, DNOs and internal project teams, you will oversee all aspects of HV connection delivery from construction through to commissioning and energisation.

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in HV grid connection delivery and contractor management, with a practical understanding of the technical and commercial challenges associated with energising large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of HV grid connections up to 132kV for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee ICP and EPC contractors throughout the construction phase.
  • Act as the primary interface between project delivery teams, DNOs and other network operators.
  • Manage grid connection works including substations, HV cabling, protection systems and energisation activities.
  • Monitor programme, budget and contractor performance to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support commissioning, testing, energisation and handover activities.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with CDM regulations, HSE standards and company procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate project delivery risks relating to grid infrastructure and connection works.
  • Provide regular project updates and progress reports to senior stakeholders.
  • Support the successful integration of grid infrastructure into utility-scale solar and BESS developments.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience in the construction and delivery of grid infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing EPC contractors, ICPs and electrical subcontractors.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of grid connection delivery, commissioning and energisation processes.
  • Experience working directly with DNOs and network operators.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and site safety management.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.
  • Experience delivering grid connections for renewable energy projects.
  • Solar PV and/or Battery Energy Storage (BESS) project experience.
  • Background working for HV contractors, utilities, DNOs, ICPs or renewable energy developers.
  • Project management qualifications or relevant industry certifications.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a technically strong Grid Delivery professional who understands the practical realities of constructing and energising HV grid infrastructure. Candidates with a general construction management background but limited direct grid delivery experience are unlikely to be suitable. Particular emphasis will be placed on:

  • Managing EPC and ICP contractors through construction and energisation phases.
  • Strong technical understanding of HV systems and connection delivery processes.
  • Ability to operate independently while managing multiple stakeholders across complex project environments.

What's on Offer?

  • Opportunity to join a rapidly growing renewable energy developer.
  • Key role within a growing UK Grid Delivery function.
  • Exposure to utility-scale solar and BESS projects.
  • Long-term career development within a high-growth sector.
  • Competitive salary package of £60,000–£70,000 plus benefits.
