We’re looking for a Network Design Assistant to join a growing Network Design team within a forward-thinking electrical infrastructure business operating across the UK. Our client delivers critical infrastructure to connect new developments to the electricity grid and has a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. The team plays a key role in supporting the UK’s transition to net zero.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in electricity network design and engineering processes. You’ll support the end-to-end design workflow, ensuring submissions, enquiries, and applications are handled accurately and efficiently, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and licence conditions. Working closely with engineers and stakeholders across the business, you’ll contribute to design coordination, technical documentation, and data management - helping ensure projects move smoothly from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the design team inbox, ensuring timely allocation of work
  • Track project progress and maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Support review of LV and ICP self-design approval submissions
  • Assist with grid connection applications and technical data preparation
  • Contribute to grid capacity reporting and dataset management
  • Support asset management tools and engineering data quality
  • Produce and update CAD drawings where required
  • Maintain technical policies, procedures, and documentation libraries
  • Provide support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Help ensure smooth transition of projects into delivery and operations

About You

  • Degree, ONC, or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field (or working towards)
  • Basic understanding of electricity distribution networks
  • Interest in developing CAD and technical drawing skills (AutoCAD beneficial but not essential)
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Comfortable working with MS Office and engineering data
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Able to build strong working relationships
