MDE are supporting a growing utilities and infrastructure business with the appointment of a Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to support the safe and compliant operation of regulated network infrastructure. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who can operate both strategically and operationally within a growing organisation.

About the Company

Our client is an established and growing business operating within the utilities and infrastructure sector, supporting the delivery and operation of regulated electricity network assets across the UK. The business is continuing to expand and is looking to strengthen its internal Health, Safety & Compliance capability with the appointment of an experienced professional who can help drive standards, compliance and operational best practice across the organisation.

About the Role

The Health, Safety & Compliance Manager will take ownership of health & safety strategy, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives across the business. The role will work closely with operational and leadership teams to ensure compliance with UK legislation, regulatory obligations and ISO management systems, whilst promoting a strong and proactive safety culture throughout the organisation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and implementing Health & Safety strategy across the business
  • Managing compliance across ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 frameworks
  • Supporting wider compliance and audit activities
  • Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments
  • Investigating incidents and implementing corrective actions
  • Delivering H&S training and contractor inductions
  • Supporting business continuity and operational risk management
  • Liaising with regulators, stakeholders and external bodies where required
  • Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across all business functions

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Experience within utilities, infrastructure, engineering or construction environments
  • Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Experience operating within regulated or operational environments
  • Ability to work both strategically and operationally
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Desirable:

  • CMIOSH status
  • Experience within DNO / IDNO / ICP or regulated network operations
  • Knowledge of Ofgem, ESQCR or related regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working within ISO management systems
  • Six Sigma and/or HAZOP awareness
