The role:
Our client is looking to add a Commercial Manager/Managing QS who will manage the commercial team and supervise and mentor the Quantity Surveyors. Reporting into the Commercial Director, this role will be best suited for an established Commercial Manager, or an experienced Senior or Managing QS who is looking for the next step in their career who will be supported to develop into the Commercial Manager role.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage the commercial team, supervising and mentoring the Quantity Surveyors.
- Provide commercial support to the project team.
- Maintain commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- To be aware of and understand what documents comprise the contract, and be fully briefed on the contract estimate, including settlement adjustments.
- Ensure robust, accurate and timely cost and value reporting weekly and monthly in line with business requirements
- Interpret /understand the respective obligations, responsibilities and liabilities of the parties to the contract, and provides advice/guidance to the site team, as appropriate.
- To be aware of and protect the Company’s commercial interests by pursuing prompt payment for work executed.
- Update the monthly CVR’s along with the project team.
- Ensure accurate cash flow reporting in line with monthly reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely Cost to Completes updates in line with monthly reporting.
- Ensure Contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate, and with commercial risks identified.
- Ensure that the supply chain is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions
What are we looking for?
- A BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in industry-specific software and excellent communication skills.
- Proven experience in a senior quantity surveying role, ideally within infrastructure or civil engineering sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction and engineering processes and contracts.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on team motivation and development.
- Chartered membership of the RICS (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience in handling large-scale, complex infrastructure projects will be advantageous.
