Electrical Design Engineer

Role Overview

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and technical delivery of solar PV projects from survey through to construction handover. The role focuses on producing compliant, buildable designs while working closely with project and installation teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed site surveys for solar PV installations
  • Capture accurate site data and photographs for technical review
  • Produce BOQs, scope of works, cable calculations, and drawings
  • Follow internal design processes and quality review stages
  • Support constructability reviews before project handover

Technical Design

  • Identify and resolve design risks, defects, and constraints
  • Ensure compliance with UK regulations and industry standards
  • Produce clear and professional technical reports
  • Develop cable routes, equipment layouts, and single line diagrams

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate surveys and design work with the technical team
  • Manage workload to meet programme and client deadlines
  • Attend design handover meetings with delivery teams
  • Plan and attend site visits using company provided vehicles
