Job Title: Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer Salary: £40,000 – £44,000 (DOE) Location: Cumbria Shift: Continental 4 on, 4 off, 12-hour shift (6:00 – 18:00, 18:00 – 6:00) Purpose of the Role: To support production by resolving engineering issues and addressing equipment breakdowns in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities of the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer: Perform reactive and proactive maintenance on various process equipment. Conduct regular Planned PPM and reactive maintenance as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns across a range of machinery, ensuring minimal downtime. Collaborate with Team Leaders and Production teams to improve production efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation of breakdowns and maintenance activities (PPMs). Ensure all required paperwork is up to date and properly maintained. Operate in adherence to Health & Safety best practices, minimising risks to self and others. Main Responsibilities of the Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer: Complete routine maintenance and breakdown repairs on time, complying with safety, engineering, and hygiene standards. Ensure engineering support is available during all operational hours. Propose plant modifications and improvements to increase efficiency. Keep historical records of breakdowns and PPMs to inform future maintenance strategies. Demonstrate a logical approach to fault finding and resolution. Perform tasks including welding, fabrication and mechanical fitting, such as gearbox installations, pump changes, steam system repairs, and bearing replacements. Qualification: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering Maintenance or Manufacturing. Experience: Time-served engineer/fitter with a strong background in both reactive and preventative maintenance. Skills: Strong organization, communication skills, and ability to work within a diverse technical team. Technical Knowledge: Experience with controls, fault analysis, and developing solutions. Flexibility: Must be adaptable to changing operational requirements. Additional Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrics and hydraulics is advantageous.
