A leading high-tech engineering and manufacturing organisation in Bristol is looking for a Production Technician to join their busy production team. You will be involved in the assembly of complex, high-specification systems and sub-assemblies, working to precise quality standards in a highly technical environment. This is a role for someone who takes pride in their work, holds themselves to a high standard, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated production setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Build systems, sub-assemblies and piece parts for complex systems to the right quality levels and ISO standards.
  • Ensure requirements of the BOM and customer specification are met.
  • Identify and resolve build problems, reporting technical issues via the FRACAS process.
  • Train and guide less experienced technicians.
  • Maintain and develop your technical competence through ongoing training.
  • Uphold the highest standards of build cleanliness, housekeeping and health and safety.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.

What we're looking for:

  • Time-served electrical apprenticeship, City and Guilds Part 3, HND, HNC, or BTech Level 3.
  • Detailed wiring skills including lead-free soldering, panel wiring to schematics, and ability to read electrical drawings.
  • Ability to fault find and implement corrective action.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Ideally a combination of mechanical, electrical and electronic assembly skills.
  • Experience in the semiconductor or plasma technology industry is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and high build quality standards.
  • Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern reliably.

The process:

Candidates will complete a two-hour technical assessment (mechanical or electrical depending on discipline) as part of the selection process. Starting salary is influenced by assessment performance and relevant experience, with scope for review at six months for higher-banded starters.
