About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to lead and develop our health, safety and compliance function within a regulated utilities environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive a positive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance and support the safe operation of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the organisation's Health & Safety strategy.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the business.
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Support ISO 27001 compliance activities where required.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments across operational and SCADA-controlled environments.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure office health and safety compliance, including DSE and workplace risk assessments.
- Deliver Health & Safety training and contractor inductions.
- Lead Health & Safety meetings and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, Ofgem requirements, ESQCR, the Electricity Act and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, including ISO certification audits.
- Maintain compliance records, certifications and regulatory submissions.
- Develop and review Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Support Business Continuity planning and operational resilience.
- Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with regulators, emergency services and external stakeholders when required.
Essential Requirements
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Minimum five years' experience in a Health & Safety and Compliance role.
- Experience within utilities, infrastructure or another regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and ISO management systems.
- Knowledge of Ofgem regulations and associated compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
Desirable
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH).
- Six Sigma qualification or experience.
- HAZOP Awareness.
