Are you looking for a new challenge? Our client provides end-to-end solutions for bespoke control and factory automation systems, covering the design, build, and installation of manufacturing process equipment, packaging machinery, conveyor systems, robotics, and vision inspection technologies. They are looking to appoint an additional electromechanical fitter/installer. In this role, you will be bringing our customers' automation aspirations to life, working across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly in food and beverage and plastic container handling) and working on some truly ground-breaking projects.
The role: You will be required to work both in-house reporting to the workshop manager and on customers' sites, reporting to the services director, where you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of automation machinery and systems. Due to the unique nature of our projects, you'll be comfortable with the basics of control systems, happy to run wires if needed and just generally roll your sleeves up to do what's needed to make it happen! You will take pride in everything you work on, ensuring everything you touch is delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion.
A lot of what we do is typically bespoke to our customers and to date there's not been an automation challenge we've not been able to support or that we have walked away from. Our diverse project portfolio means there's no standard production lines or builds, which is why we only employ solutioners.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, curious, tenacious, punctual, and able to manage their own time effectively. You'll have high standards and be described as hard working, reliable, courteous, having a mature attitude and being a great team player.
Travel: Roughly you should expect 30-40% travel. It's hard to predict due to the nature of what we do but you should expect typically up to 2 weeks at a time, approx. 5 times per year. Plus, ad-hoc UK day trips and overnights. That said, you could be in the workshop for 3 months and then in the US for 4 weeks. It is variable and we always work with our teams to ensure they get the right work-life-travel balance. Some people want lots of travel, others less so. Our international customers are mainly in the USA and Canada, you'll get a generous daily living allowance and stay in nice hotels and the opportunity to explore the local sites.
Your skills & experience:
- An apprentice trained and/or qualified Mechanical and/or Electrical Fitter/Assembler
- Solid experience building/installing industrial machinery/conveyors
- Skilled with using general hand tools and power tools as required
- Electrical experience would be desirable but not essential
- Experienced at reading and interpreting engineering drawings and able to follow written instructions and method statements
- Familiar with working in hygienic environments and health and safety requirements
- Previous experience of working with electric, pneumatic systems and valves
- Experienced at working on medium sized assemblies and sub-assemblies
- Good eye for detail and able to work on their own and as part of a team
If this sounds like you, then here's what's on offer:
- Salary: £36,400 depending on skills and experience
- 40 hours per week with an early finish on Friday
- Potential for overtime at 1.5x hourly rate during busy periods
- Private healthcare including partner/child dependants & Contributory pension
- 21 days holiday + Bank holidays
- Travel to USA and Canada, with generous daily living allowance and nice hotels
- Opportunity to earn spot bonuses/awards for outstanding contributions
- Great opportunities for progression
Key Requirements for the role:
- Self-starter with the maturity to be able to work with minimal supervision but equally, knows when support is needed
