Location: UK wide projects with a preference for candidates based along the M5 corridor between Crewe and Gloucester.
Pay and set up: Self employed CIS with weekly payments. Typical rate £25 to £27 per hour CIS, with scope to £28 for people with an ECS Gold Card and strong transformer or HV experience. Travel time paid door to door. Regular fifty plus hour weeks for those who want to earn well. Based on typical hours, weekly earnings can be in the region of £1,500 to £1,700 depending on experience and hours worked.
The opportunity: You will join a growing UK energy business delivering utility scale power generation projects across the country. This includes large solar farms, battery storage sites and associated substations. You will be the Electrical Supervisor on site, leading teams of electricians and making sure all works are installed, tested and commissioned safely and to the required standard. There is a strong long term pipeline of projects, so this is ongoing work rather than a short shutdown. Accommodation is provided Monday to Friday in good quality shared houses rather than budget hotels.
What you will be doing:
- Supervising electrical installation, testing and maintenance on utility scale solar, battery and substation projects.
- Working in the field with electricians and technicians, leading by example on safety and quality.
- Overseeing installation of inverters, battery systems, LV panels, transformers and associated cabling.
- Carrying out and overseeing inspection and testing, fault finding and corrective actions.
- Reading and working from electrical drawings and schematics.
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers and the client to keep work on track.
- Completing daily and weekly reporting on progress, materials and any issues.
- Supporting and mentoring junior electricians and technicians.
What you will bring:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent electrical qualification.
- ECS Gold Card.
- 18th Edition.
- Inspection and testing qualification such as 2391 or 2392.
- At least five years electrical experience with time spent on utility scale or industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical standards and safe systems of work.
- Confident reading drawings and schematics and planning work from them.
- Hands on experience with solar inverters, battery systems, LV panels and associated wiring is a strong advantage.
- Proven experience supervising teams on site, including allocating work and checking quality.
- Good IT skills for basic reporting and documentation.
Other requirements:
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle, mileage paid at 25 pence per mile.
- Happy to work away from home Monday to Friday on sites across the UK.
- Able to work in the UK without sponsorship.
