We are seeking qualified and experienced Mechanical Technicians to join our client's team, maintaining ship-to-shore cranes and fully automated bulk handling systems to ensure maximum operational availability for vessel loading and unloading activities. This role operates on a flexible shift pattern within a busy 24/7 port environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical systems and working environments.
- Work closely with operations teams to prioritise repairs on unserviceable machinery, using fault-finding techniques and diagnostic equipment to minimise downtime.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, including daily logs and maintenance work orders.
- Perform duties safely and responsibly, adhering to Health & Safety policies and HSE regulations at all times.
- Maintain the highest standards of mechanical workmanship.
- Support a multi-skilled team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, bringing forward ideas to improve efficiency and smarter ways of working.
- Be flexible with working hours, including regular weekend shifts and paid overtime when required.
About You
- Minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 in a relevant engineering or mechanical discipline.
- Ideally qualified to HNC level in Engineering or equivalent, or a time-served apprentice in a relevant trade.
- Previous experience working with large gearboxes, couplings, motors, and conveyor belting systems.
- Comfortable using Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) via handheld tablets.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Comfortable working at height.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the demands of a busy port operating 24/7.
- Willing to work regular weekends and overtime.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport essential.
