As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial delivery of mechanical and electrical (M&E) packages across a variety of high-quality building projects (including new build, refurbishment, and fit-out). You will support cost control and commercial processes from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and commercial value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with cost planning and estimating for M&E works, ensuring accurate measurement and pricing of mechanical and electrical elements (HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, etc.).
  • Support the preparation of tender submissions, procurement strategies, and commercial documentation for M&E subcontract packages.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontractor packages, including labour and materials.
  • Monitor and control project costs, undertaking valuation of works, managing variations, and supporting monthly cost reporting.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, including cost value reconciliations (CVRs), cashflow forecasts, and contract correspondence.
  • Collaborate with site teams, project managers, design professionals, and clients to drive commercial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual frameworks (e.g., NEC, JCT) and internal commercial procedures.
  • Provide proactive commercial support during change control, risk management, and dispute avoidance/resolution.
Person Specification
  • Experience in an M&E Quantity Surveying role, ideally within a Main Contractor.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
  • Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates, valuations, and commercial reports.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to work within contractual frameworks (JCT/NEC).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software (e.g., cost planning / measurement tools).
  • Degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
