As an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial delivery of mechanical and electrical (M&E) packages across a variety of high-quality building projects (including new build, refurbishment, and fit-out). You will support cost control and commercial processes from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and commercial value.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with cost planning and estimating for M&E works, ensuring accurate measurement and pricing of mechanical and electrical elements (HVAC, plumbing, power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, etc.).
- Support the preparation of tender submissions, procurement strategies, and commercial documentation for M&E subcontract packages.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontractor packages, including labour and materials.
- Monitor and control project costs, undertaking valuation of works, managing variations, and supporting monthly cost reporting.
- Maintain accurate commercial records, including cost value reconciliations (CVRs), cashflow forecasts, and contract correspondence.
- Collaborate with site teams, project managers, design professionals, and clients to drive commercial performance.
- Ensure compliance with contractual frameworks (e.g., NEC, JCT) and internal commercial procedures.
- Provide proactive commercial support during change control, risk management, and dispute avoidance/resolution.
- Experience in an M&E Quantity Surveying role, ideally within a Main Contractor.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
- Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates, valuations, and commercial reports.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commercial awareness and ability to work within contractual frameworks (JCT/NEC).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial software (e.g., cost planning / measurement tools).
- Degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
