An opportunity has arisen in the Project Delivery Team for an enthusiastic Project Manager who is early on in their project management career, looking to continue to develop in this discipline. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of assigned low-medium complexity projects within the Medicines Discovery Catapult. We are looking for someone who has energy and motivation to learn and grow within the existing project team, bringing fresh thinking and enthusiasm to learn and excel. With a diverse project portfolio, this role will provide an excellent platform for cultivating project management experience.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • The jobholder will manage predominantly, but not limited to, the delivery of R&D innovation projects and R&D commercial initiatives.
  • Ensuring delivery of projects through detailed project planning, problem solving and collaborative coordinated teamwork to deliver on milestones to time, quality and budget.
  • Applying the MDC governance model to all projects, ensuring compliance with the framework and defined processes including Risk and Issue management; change control.
  • Recording and tracking all project information in the PPM software solution.
  • Inputting, updating & maintaining project documentation.
  • Working closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Co-ordinating inputs into the project including legal.
  • Liaising with the Project Finance Manager to establish anticipated project spend & resources; track variances versus budget and ensure any significant variances are communicated effectively, with remedial plans put in place where possible.
  • Providing good communication on all project matters including monthly publication of project reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential: Experience in a Project or Programme Management role. Experienced in managing multiple projects.
  • Desirable: Project Management Qualification. Experience of collaborating with external partners. Experience working in an innovative environment with both technical and commercial content. Experience of managing projects within public and private sector organisations, including Grant funded endeavours. Degree or equivalent qualification.
