MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European‑based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space‑based communication technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers developing satellite telecommunication payloads for a variety of orbits.
  • RF system and circuit level design, simulation and testing.
  • Supporting link budget analysis.
  • Detailed circuit design including schematic capture, component selection, circuit analysis and EM simulation.
  • Engineering analysis and documentation (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget).
  • Directing in‑house and 3rd‑party PCB layout design teams.
  • Delivering prototype and product quality manufacturing packages.

Required Skills And Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a RF engineering role, in the Space or an equivalent High Reliability sector.
  • Knowledge of LEO/GEO communications payloads.
  • Experience of circuit and PCB design and RF simulation tools.
  • Specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
    • High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc).
    • Spacecraft link budgets.
    • Signal integrity analysis.
    • Electronic circuitry radiation effects and mitigation techniques.
    • Knowledge of environmental, thermal, safety and EMI/EMC standards.
