The Multitrade role is a full-time position based from the Poole office covering contracts across Hampshire and Dorset. The Multitrade professional will carry out a range of maintenance and repair tasks across social housing properties, including carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, painting, and general repairs. Day-to-day responsibilities include attending scheduled and reactive jobs, diagnosing issues, completing works to agreed specifications, and ensuring health and safety standards are met on-site. The role also involves liaising with tenants, clients, and colleagues, providing clear updates on progress, and maintaining accurate records of materials used and work completed. The Multitrade team member is expected to work efficiently, uphold MD Group’s quality standards, and contribute positively to the local communities served.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated multitrade experience across core disciplines such as carpentry, basic plumbing, plastering, and painting, with the ability to complete high-quality repairs and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of building maintenance practices, health and safety regulations, and safe use of tools and equipment within occupied homes and void properties.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, including the ability to interact respectfully with tenants, clients, and colleagues and provide clear updates on work.
- Good organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple jobs, complete documentation accurately, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeships (e.g., NVQ or City & Guilds in a building trade) and a valid driver’s license suitable for travel between sites.
- Comfort with basic digital tools for job management, reporting, and communication; previous experience in social housing or public sector maintenance is an advantage.
