About the role
As a Telehandler Operator, you will play a vital role in the efficient and safe operation of the telehandler equipment, contributing to the overall success of our construction project. Dependent upon workload, you will also be required to provide support in the capacity of general Labouring due to the size of the site. Location of the role will be in Ashwood Drive, Stranraer.
Key roles and responsibilities include;
- Operate the telehandler equipment to safely and efficiently transport construction materials, equipment, and supplies around the site.
- Load and unload materials from delivery vehicles, ensuring proper distribution and placement according to project requirements.
- Perform routine inspections of the telehandler and perform basic maintenance tasks, such as refuelling, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Assist tradespeople and contractors as required.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the smooth flow of materials and equipment on the construction site.
- Maintain accurate records of telehandler operations, including daily logs, maintenance reports, and incident reports. Any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the site supervisor or project manager immediately.
- Ensure all waste from site is disposed of safely and in line with environmental and safety commitments including: adhering to waste segregation requirements, limiting waste production on site, supporting effective management of materials, and making the Site Manager/Project Manager aware of any over-delivery of materials.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents and injuries. Any issues, concerns, or incidents to the Site Manager or Project Manager promptly.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of construction projects.
- Adhere to all relevant company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and guidelines at all times.
- Support with labourer duties as and when required. (adverse weather conditions etc)

Your Skills and Experience
This role is ideally suited to an experienced Telehandler/Forklift driver from within the construction and housebuilding industry.
The ideal candidate will be/have;
- Proven experience operating a telehandler in a construction environment with a valid Telehandler Operator Certification or similar qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of telehandler operations, including proper load capacity, stability, and safe operating practices.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labouring tasks in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and the ability to adhere to them at all times.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception to manoeuvre the telehandler equipment accurately.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet project deadlines, as well as have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks in a physically demanding environment.
- Able to work under your own initiative and as part of the site team, including following instructions from Site Manager.
- Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements in the workplace and the ability to adhere to these.
- Good communication skills, including a working level of English language skills.
- CPCS card, NPORS or similar qualification
- Clean UK driving licence β desirable
- Fire awareness training β desirable
