This role involves supporting children and adolescents with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and other additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping young people feel safe, understood, and supported in their daily lives.
The Role
- Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress, or behavioural challenges.
- Support children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions, and sensory sensitivities.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, mealtimes, hygiene, and maintaining a structured routine.
- Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
- Safely manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques where necessary.
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records of care provided and incidents.
To be successful, you'll need:
- At least 1 year of mental healthcare assistant experience in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS.
- A valid PMVA certificate (or willing to obtain this).
- Experience with:
- Mental Health support for children and adolescents.
- Challenging behaviour.
- Medication administration.
- Safeguarding Level 2 or 3.
- A DBS registered on the Update Service.
- Valid Manual Handling & Basic Life Support training.
