This role involves supporting children and adolescents with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and other additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping young people feel safe, understood, and supported in their daily lives.

The Role

  • Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress, or behavioural challenges.
  • Support children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions, and sensory sensitivities.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, mealtimes, hygiene, and maintaining a structured routine.
  • Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
  • Safely manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records of care provided and incidents.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • At least 1 year of mental healthcare assistant experience in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • A valid PMVA certificate (or willing to obtain this).
  • Experience with:
  • Mental Health support for children and adolescents.
  • Challenging behaviour.
  • Medication administration.
  • Safeguarding Level 2 or 3.
  • A DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • Valid Manual Handling & Basic Life Support training.
