MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a leading international distributor within the wallcoverings and interiors sector to recruit a Territory Sales Manager covering Scotland and Northern Ireland to work a 4 day week. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales professional to join a successful organisation and take ownership of a strategically important territory.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with an established independent customer base, driving sales and margin growth, increasing product distribution, and identifying opportunities to maximise account potential.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of independent customer accounts, building strong commercial relationships at all levels.
- Drive sales and margin growth across existing accounts, increasing range penetration, distribution, space, and promotional activity.
- Identify opportunities to grow customer spend and maximise account potential.
- Introduce and develop new product ranges across the customer base.
- Analyse territory sales performance and develop strategic business plans to deliver growth.
- Develop and execute annual Joint Business Plans with key customers.
- Provide market, competitor, customer, and product intelligence to relevant internal teams.
- Present market data and commercial information to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve customer account queries and issues.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records.
- Support trade shows, merchandising activity, product training, and other commercial initiatives as required.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience within a field sales, territory sales, account management, or business development role.
- Strong track record of building and developing customer relationships.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage sales, margins, and account profitability.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated and confident, with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with the ability to interpret sales and performance data.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across multiple internal departments.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience within the DIY, interiors, home improvement, or decorating sectors.
- Experience selling wallpaper, paint, tiles, brushes, decorating products, or associated DIY products.
- Existing relationships with independent retailers or trade customers.
- Experience developing territory business plans or Joint Business Plans.
- Knowledge of the independent retail market across Scotland and/or Northern Ireland.
