MCS Group is proud to partner with a prominent Public Body to recruit a dedicated Support Accountant. This pivotal role focuses on promoting and sustaining financial viability through expert analysis, financial planning, and the evaluation of reform proposals. The Role\’s Focus As a key member of the Financial Planning (Commissioning) division, you will provide specialist financial advice to senior management and lead on the financial aspects of business cases. Your daily priorities will involve interpreting complex data-sets, supporting robust financial planning, and representing the Finance directorate in regional negotiations to ensure all operations align with the organisation\’s strategic goals. Core Duties: Business Case Development: Produce and analyse the financial components of business cases, providing expert advice in accordance with evaluation guidelines. Financial Planning & Monitoring: Support the Head Accountant in developing accurate financial plans and monitoring the performance of commissioning bodies. Strategic Negotiations: Represent the Finance function in service and budget agreement (SBA) negotiations and participate in regional financial projects. Efficiency Analysis: Identify and support cash-releasing and productivity efficiencies, conducting bench-marking to improve service effectiveness. Training & Advisory: Provide high-quality financial training and advice to managers regarding planning objectives and financial regulations. Candidate Requirements: Professional Qualification: Full membership of a CCAB professional accounting institute or CIMA. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant finance experience at a supervisory level. Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and an extensive working knowledge of ICT systems for financial data interpretation. Communication: Proven ability to influence and negotiate with senior-level stakeholders, both internally and externally. Mobility: Hold a valid UK Driving Licence with access to a car (adjustments possible) Package Details: Salary: £24.45/h | £47,677.5/y (PAYE) Schedule: 37.5 hours per week | Monday – Friday Duration: 8 Months Initially Flexible working provisions available from day one.
