MCS Group is working with an exciting software scale-up building AI-powered products used by enterprise customers globally. They're now looking for a hands-on Engineering Team Lead to join their growing backend team. This role is ideal for a strong Senior or Lead Software Engineer who still loves coding, architecture and solving complex technical challenges, but wants to take their first real step into people leadership and team management. Equally, this opportunity would appeal to a hands-on engineering manager who is looking to get back closer to technology and delivery.

You'll play a key role in designing and building scalable backend systems, APIs and microservices while helping to guide and mentor a small, high-performing engineering team in a business which is truly scaling.

What you and your team will be working on/with:

  • Node.js, TypeScript and cloud-native backend development
  • GCP, Kubernetes and containerised environments
  • AI-powered products and modern microservice architectures

  • Strong backend engineering background (this could be Java, .Net, Python etc - as long as you have demonstrable experience of picking up and learning new technologies and languages)
  • Experience building scalable distributed systems and APIs
  • Exposure to cloud platforms and Kubernetes
  • Someone collaborative, technically curious and keen to grow into leadership

Salary: Up to £90,000 with share options, 5% pension and private medical.
