Are you an experienced communications professional looking to develop your career in media relations, public affairs and strategic communications within a high-profile organisation? MCS Group are delighted to be supporting a leading membership body in their search for a Media and Communications Officer to support press activity and communications campaigns across the UK.
The role:
- Managed and responded to high-volume media enquiries, coordinating with senior stakeholders and spokespeople.
- Planned and delivered proactive communications campaigns aligned with strategic policy objectives.
- Monitored media and political developments, identifying opportunities for timely reactive communications.
- Ensured external messaging remained accurate, consistent and compliant with internal approvals processes.
- Prepared spokespeople for media engagement through briefings, interview support and follow-up activity.
- Amplified communications activity across digital and owned channels, including websites and social media.
- Supported daily press office operations, including media monitoring, reporting, social media oversight and out-of-hours cover.
The Person:
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
- Experienced in public relations and fast-paced press office environments, with strong regional media awareness.
- Skilled in managing competing priorities, meeting tight deadlines and exercising strong news judgement.
- Confident drafting press releases and clear, accurate communications materials.
- Proficient in media distribution, content management and digital communication tools.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with expertise in using social media strategically across platforms.
