MCS Group is delighted to be working with a leading financial services organisation who are investing heavily in their AI and digital transformation capability and are now hiring a Principal Workflow & Automation Architect to help shape the next phase of their automation strategy.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a key strategic role influencing how a major organisation adopts AI and next-generation automation, with real visibility and impact across the enterprise. This is a standalone, high-impact role within the CIO function, sitting at the centre of engineering, architecture and AI transformation.

The focus is on moving the organisation beyond traditional automation (such as RPA) into agentic AI and intelligent workflow design, defining how these capabilities are adopted and scaled across the business. This is a highly influential position, working closely with senior leadership including Heads of Engineering and AI.

The successful candidate will play a key role in setting direction, defining standards and blueprints, and ensuring teams are aligned on how AI and automation should be implemented across the organisation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Define standards, patterns and architecture for AI-driven workflows and automation
  • Shape the organisation's approach to agentic AI and next-generation automation
  • Act as a bridge between engineering, architecture, AI and transformation teams
  • Influence senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic decision-making
  • Help mature delivery practices and ensure consistency across teams and programmes
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and bring external insight into the organisation
What we're looking for:
  • Background in large-scale enterprise or regulated environments
  • Experience in workflow automation, architecture, transformation or similar roles
  • Strong stakeholder management with senior leadership exposure
  • Ability to operate across both technical and strategic conversations
  • Experience working with engineering teams and shaping delivery direction
  • Not purely RPA-focused - needs broader transformation and architecture thinking
