Love solving customer problems? Enjoy the technical side of pre‑sales? Want to work with AI that’s solving real‑world challenges rather than chasing hype? We’re working with the AI and data innovation arm of one of the world's largest infrastructure groups as they continue expanding across the UK utilities sector. They’re looking for a Pre‑Sales Engineer to become the technical bridge between customers, sales, delivery and engineering, helping organisations understand how AI and data can solve complex operational problems. This is a genuine individual contributor role. No people management. No sales quota. Just the opportunity to work on technically interesting customer engagements whilst helping shape how AI is adopted across critical infrastructure.
The Opportunity
You’ll sit within a small, highly collaborative Professional Services team, partnering closely with Sales, Product and Engineering throughout the customer journey. From discovery workshops through to demonstrations, Proofs of Concept and solution design, you’ll help customers understand what’s possible, validate technical solutions and ensure projects are set up for success before delivery begins. Every customer is different, meaning this is far more consultative than demonstrating an off‑the‑shelf SaaS platform.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading technical discovery workshops with enterprise customers.
- Delivering tailored demonstrations and Proofs of Concept.
- Understanding customer challenges and translating them into technical solutions.
- Supporting RFPs and solution design.
- Advising customers on integrations, architecture and implementation approaches.
- Explaining AI, analytics and data platform concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Working closely with Product, Engineering and Delivery teams throughout the sales cycle.
- Feeding customer insight back into the wider business to help shape future services.
What We’re Looking For
We’re open on background, but you’ll probably come from one of the following: Pre‑Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Consultant, Technical Consultant, Professional Services Consultant, AI Consultant, Data Consultant, Customer Engineer.
You’ll Ideally Bring
- Experience working with enterprise customers.
- Strong customer‑facing presentation skills.
- Experience running discovery workshops.
- Solution design experience.
- Proof of Concept delivery.
- Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP).
- AI, Machine Learning or modern data platform knowledge.
- APIs and systems integration.
- A consultative mindset.
Working knowledge of Python, SQL or modern analytics platforms would be beneficial, but you don’t need to be a software engineer.
What Success Looks Like
You’ll be someone who enjoys translating technical concepts into business value. You’re equally comfortable speaking with engineers, architects and senior business stakeholders, helping customers understand not just how something works, but why it matters. You enjoy solving problems, asking questions and building trusted relationships.
What’s In It For You?
- Up to £90,000 base salary
- 10% annual bonus
- £6,000 car allowance
- Private healthcare
- Pension
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Hybrid working (3 days in the Battersea office)
- UK customer travel (travel days count as office days)
- Exposure to enterprise AI programmes across some of the UK's largest infrastructure organisations
- A collaborative team where you’ll have real influence on how solutions are shaped and delivered
Why Join?
This isn’t a high‑volume SaaS sales role. You’ll work on meaningful AI and data programmes that solve genuine operational challenges across energy, water and utilities, partnering with customers from the earliest conversations through to successful project delivery. If you enjoy combining technology, consulting and customer engagement, and want to be part of a growing AI business where your input genuinely matters, we’d love to hear from you.
If you have a disability which means you require assistance at any stage of the recruitment process, please contact us directly to discuss. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity to all.
