MCS Group is delighted to be recruiting a Warehouse Operations Manager for a leading retail and wholesale business operating across Northern Ireland with a strong presence in food retail, convenience, and distribution. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation with a large multi-site operation spanning retail stores, wholesale depots, and office locations.

The successful candidate will play a key role, responsible for ensuring that the operation is managed in such a way that all key performance indicators are achieved, and H&S guidelines are followed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day warehouse operation, ensuring operational KPIs, service levels and budget targets are achieved.
  • Plan, organise and optimise warehouse resources to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Lead, coach and develop line management teams, driving high performance, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service through accurate, timely order fulfilment and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive operational improvements through the implementation of Lean methodologies, technology and best practice.
  • Manage employee performance, attendance, development, succession planning and employee relations, including Trade Union engagement where applicable.
  • Promote a positive culture of communication, teamwork, accountability and employee wellbeing.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, HACCP requirements and company policies, maintaining a strong safety and food safety culture.
  • Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with all operational, quality and regulatory standards.
  • Build strong relationships across Operations, Transport, HR, Supply Chain and Customer Service to deliver business objectives.
Essential Criteria
  • Proven leadership experience within a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
  • Strong people management, coaching and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operational performance against KPIs and budgets.
  • Customer-focused with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, high-volume operation.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and operational compliance.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Desirable Criteria
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a similar management role.
  • Third-level qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience within FMCG, retail or multi-drop distribution environments.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems, HACCP and food safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience managing Industrial Relations and Trade Union engagement.
