Are you a qualified accountant looking to progress your career within a complex public sector environment, providing high-quality financial management, business case development and strategic support to senior stakeholders? MCS Group are delighted to be supporting a public sector organisation in their search for an Accountant to deliver expert financial advice, support budgetary control and contribute to effective financial planning and decision-making across the organisation.

The role:

  • Provide financial support to senior managers and budget holders to ensure effective financial management and control.
  • Develop business cases and service proposals through detailed costing, modelling and financial analysis.
  • Deliver expert financial advice, identifying variances, risks and supporting corrective action.
  • Contribute to financial planning, reporting, capital programme monitoring and statutory returns.
  • Support budget setting, monitoring and reporting in line with financial strategy and governance requirements.
  • Assist budget holders with financial performance management, reporting and service development options.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes, policies, systems and management information.

The Person:

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

  • CCAB qualified Accountant with 3+ years' experience in financial management.
  • Experience in budgetary control and preparation of management accounts and reports.
  • Proven ability to develop business cases and support investment decision-making.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office to analyse and present complex financial data.
