MCS Group has an exciting opportunity available for a Digital Innovation Officer with a prominent public sector body in Newtownabbey. This role is perfect for a proactive digital development professional looking to join a dynamic Economic Development team. You will play a pivotal role in driving forward the digital agenda for local economic growth – assisting businesses and social enterprises to accelerate their digital journeys, secure new technology opportunities, and support residents in accessing digital growth sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead high-profile, strategic digital initiatives and gain valuable hands-on project management exposure within a highly supportive public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Project Delivery: Supporting and project managing key initiatives such as the Northern Ireland Digital Transformation Project ("Digital Surge"), the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund, and local digital adaptation grants.
- Business & Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging directly with local businesses, social enterprises, education providers, and government departments to identify digital growth and external funding opportunities.
- Infrastructure Support: Supporting the Economic Development team on wider strategic projects, including digital infrastructure improvements (such as Broadband) and Smart Districts.
- Funding & Compliance: Preparing project solutions, administering letters of offer, adhering to procurement procedures, and managing internal/external funding in compliance with grant awarding bodies.
- Event & Workshop Delivery: Developing content for and overseeing innovative business development events, workshops, and consultations.
Essential Criteria
- A university degree PLUS at least 2 years' experience in a wide range of economic development activities, including demonstrated experience in delivering digital programmes.
- Technical & Core Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office and Windows applications, alongside strong planning, project management, and organisational skills.
- A solution-based, flexible, and positive attitude with the ability to work on your own initiative to meet strict deadlines.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in the programme management of externally funded programmes.
