MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a leading and highly successful food manufacturing business to recruit a Business Development & Account Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established organisation with a strong reputation across retail, food manufacturing, and food service sectors, supplying a diverse range of fresh and prepared food products throughout the UK and Ireland. The business continues to invest in growth, innovation, and product development. This role will play a key part in driving that growth, particularly within the ready meal manufacturing and cooked food sectors.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drive new business growth within the food manufacturing sector, with a particular focus on ready meal producers and bulk ingredient customers.
  • Identify, develop, and secure new customer opportunities while expanding revenue streams within existing accounts.
  • Manage and develop relationships with two key strategic accounts, ensuring exceptional service and long-term partnership growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams including NPD, Procurement and Production to deliver innovative solutions and customer-focused outcomes.
  • Attend customer meetings, industry events, and benchmarking visits to identify emerging market opportunities and industry trends.
  • Collaborate across departments through regular operational meetings to align customer demand, production capacity, and new product opportunities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and market dynamics within fast-paced food manufacturing environments.
  • Contribute directly to the company's ambitious growth strategy through a combination of proactive business development and effective account management.
  • Occasionally travel throughout the UK as required to support customer relationships and business development activity.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within a sales, business development, account management, or commercial role.
  • Proven track record of winning new business and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
  • Experience within the foodservice industry.
  • Strong understanding of short shelf-life products and the commercial and operational challenges associated with them.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders and departments.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert growth opportunities.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience selling into food manufacturing, ready meal production, prepared foods, or food service sectors.
  • Knowledge of chilled, fresh, or short shelf-life food categories.
  • Experience managing key customer accounts alongside new business development responsibilities.
  • Established network within the UK and Irish food manufacturing market.
