A leading professional services firm with offices across the UK is seeking to recruit a Nearly / Newly Qualified Actuary to join their growing team based in Belfast. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity offering exposure to high-quality client work, strong professional development support and the chance to work in a collaborative consulting environment during a period of change within the pensions industry.
This role would suit an individual who is nearing completion of their actuarial exams or recently qualified, with a strong background in UK pensions consulting and the ability to combine technical expertise with excellent client relationship skills.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver actuarial advice to a portfolio of UK pension scheme clients, ensuring high standards of technical accuracy and client service.
- Provide actuarial input across a range of areas including funding, investment matters and regulatory requirements.
- Support and lead client meetings, responding to queries and managing ongoing client relationships.
- Contribute to projects in a changing pensions environment, including governance, scheme funding and de-risking activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across teams, supporting junior staff and managing project workflows.
- Utilise actuarial and modelling systems effectively, including Excel and other specialist software platforms.
- Maintain awareness of current developments affecting pension schemes and actuarial practice.
- Nearing completion of, or recently attained, Fellowship of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- 2:1 or above in a relevant degree.
- Strong experience in a similar actuarial role within a pensions consulting or related environment.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent client service.
- Broad knowledge of how UK pension schemes operate, including funding and investment considerations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical and systems capability, particularly in Excel, with the ability to learn new software platforms.
- Demonstrable team-working skills and the ability to manage projects effectively.
- Evidence of proactive professional development and engagement with the actuarial profession.
- Knowledge of and experience in GMP equalisation calculations.
- Knowledge of and experience in Risk Transfer activities.
- Practical knowledge of the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience - c. £52,000 - £62,000.
