MCS Group is proud to be supporting a global firm with a strong Irish presence as they seek a Senior Cloud Operations & Systems Engineer to join their established technology function in Dublin. This role plays a key part in maintaining and optimising cloud infrastructure across a large-scale, international environment. (Hybrid - Dublin City Centre)
About the Role
You’ll be part of a collaborative global team responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission‑critical systems. The focus is on automation, resilience, and proactive problem‑solving. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to implement secure, efficient, and cost‑effective cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high availability and performance of core systems through monitoring and incident response.
- Automate lifecycle processes including provisioning, scaling, and decommissioning of cloud resources.
- Lead incident response efforts and contribute to post‑incident analysis and long‑term improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance system design, security, and operational excellence.
- Provide guidance and clear communication during high‑impact events and shifting priorities.
Key Skills & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS/Docker, CloudWatch, S3, VPC, RDS, Route53).
- Strong background in both Windows and Linux administration.
- Solid understanding of web servers (IIS, Apache, or nginx).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Scripting ability with Python, PowerShell, or AWS CLI.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, CloudWatch, or DataDog.
- Strong understanding of DNS, networking, and security best practices.
- AWS Certification is strongly advantageous.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Lambda, CloudFront, and RDS.
- Familiarity with automation/configuration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or AWS SSM.
- Understanding of CI/CD and Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of caching, database, and backup/recovery technologies.
