We're hiring a hands-on VP of Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing engineering function within a fast-growing AI scale up operating in the healthcare and life sciences space. This is a senior leadership role with real influence across product, technology and commercial strategy. You'll lead engineering delivery, shape technical direction, support customer engagements and help drive growth in a scaling business. Excellent opportunity for a hands-on technical leader to join a business with ambitious growth plans, strong leadership and genuinely interesting technology solving real-world problems.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and growing engineering teams across backend, frontend, data and DevOps
  • Owning engineering strategy, delivery and technical direction
  • Working closely with Product, Commercial and the Founder on roadmap and execution
  • Supporting customer demos from a technical perspective, workshops, RFPs and lead technical discussions on occasion
  • Driving best practice across architecture, security, quality and performance
  • Championing AI/ML capability development across the platform
  • Acting as a visible and hands-on technical leader

What we're looking for:

  • Strong engineering leadership experience in scaling environments (ie. You've worked in a start-up/scale up previously and enjoy all that comes with the territory)
  • Background in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and AWS cloud platforms - you'll not necessarily be coding day-to-day, but you'll lead architectural discussions and code reviews
  • Experience building and leading high-performing technical teams
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, commercially focused businesses
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Previous experience within SaaS, AI, data or platform-led environments preferred

Salary: Circa £90,000 depending on experience with a benefits package which includes share options.
