We are working with a globally recognised technology scale-up operating at the intersection of customer engagement, loyalty and data analytics, partnering with some of the world's largest brands across financial services and retail, to hire a Technical Data Architect. This is a key hire into an active, large scale AWS migration programme. The business is investing heavily in end-to-end automation and AI this year and this role will be central to shaping how data is used across the organisation going forward. You will work closely with an existing data architect and a principal data engineer, with visibility across both technical and business teams.
What you will bring:
- AWS is at the heart of this role. They are mid-migration from on-premises to cloud and are looking for someone whose primary data platform experience is AWS, with deep hands-on knowledge across services such as S3, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift and EMR.
- As important as the technical delivery capability is the ability to think architecturally about data. They want someone who can articulate the reasoning behind design decisions, engage confidently with stakeholders at a strategic level, and define data standards and governance frameworks that stand up at scale.
- This is a role for someone who owns outcomes end to end and takes pride in seeing solutions through to production.
Essential experience:
- AWS data stack ownership in a production environment (S3, Glue, Kinesis, Redshift, EMR)
- Strong data modelling background (dimensional modelling, CDM, LDM, star schema)
- ETL/ELT pipeline design and delivery across real-time and batch
- Data governance, security and performance optimisation
- Large scale transformation programme experience, banking, financial services or telecoms backgrounds particularly valued
- A hands-on delivery mindset combined with strategic thinking
- Confident stakeholder engagement with the ability to challenge and influence
What would set you apart:
- Exposure to AI, machine learning or agentic AI, even in a personal or exploratory capacity
- A software engineering background alongside strong data skills
- Experience with modern data observability and governance tooling such as Atlan or Monte Carlo
- IaC experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
The role:
- Individual contributor reporting into the Head of Data. Hybrid working with three days per week on-site.
- Strong progression opportunities as the team and transformation programme grows.
Package:
- Up to £80,000 base salary plus private healthcare, life cover, dental and optical cover, share scheme, 25 days holiday with buy and sell flexibility, fitness and wellbeing perks.
