MCS Group is exclusively supporting an innovative Belfast technology company as they look to appoint a Lead Design Systems Engineer to their growing engineering team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Frontend Engineer who enjoys creating high-quality user experiences and building the foundations that product teams rely on every day. You'll take ownership of a shared design system and component library used across multiple products, working closely with designers and engineers to ensure consistency, accessibility and exceptional implementation quality.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and maintaining reusable React and TypeScript components
- Owning and evolving a company-wide design system
- Translating Storybook and Figma specifications into production-ready code
- Driving consistency across multiple products and engineering teams
- Implementing accessibility best practices and visual regression testing
- Managing component versioning and release processes
- Mentoring engineers and promoting frontend best practices
What we're looking for:
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
- Experience building or maintaining design systems and component libraries
- Strong understanding of Storybook and modern frontend development practices
- Experience working closely with designers and interpreting Figma designs
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
