MCS are seeking a highly motivated Data Processing & Analysis Officer to join our Corporate Governance & Improvement Directorate based in our Fire Service HQ in Lisburn. In this pivotal role, you will support the delivery of a professional data service that directly informs operational decision-making and community safety outcomes.
The Role
As part of the Data Processing & Analysis Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day extraction, cleansing, and analysis of complex data-sets. Your work will ensure that NIFRS has access to timely, accurate, and consistent information to support both internal performance management and external statutory requests.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Data & Geospatial Analysis: Carrying out geospatial interrogation and analysis to produce mapped and tabular outputs.
- System Development: Assisting with the implementation of the NIFRS Digital, Data and Technology Strategy (DDaT) and maintaining data warehouses and dashboards.
- Performance Reporting: Monitoring operational emergency response performance and providing statistical trend analysis for Board-level reports.
- Governance: Ensuring all data processing adheres to UK GDPR, Data Protection, and Freedom of Information requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Providing guidance and training to senior management and operational staff on data capabilities.
Essential Criteria:
- A Level 4 qualification (e.g., Degree or HND), ideally with a research/statistical element, plus at least one year of relevant experience in a statistical or research environment.
- A proven understanding of data processing, information management, and the ability to interpret and present complex data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working within the public sector.
- Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience analysing large, complex datasets.
- A full, current UK driving licence.

The Package
- Salary: £31,441.8/y | Pro-rata £16.68/h
- Benefits: Hybrid Working | Flexi-Time | Core-Hours
- Duration: 6 Months - Extension Possible
- Start Date: EARLY February 2026
