MCS Group has an exciting exclusive opportunity for an Asset Information Support specialist to join Belfast Harbour's Engineering & Infrastructure team. This permanent role sits within the operations engineering department, playing a central part in setting up a brand-new asset management framework and system to support data-driven decision-making across a world-leading regional port.
As Asset Information Support, you will work closely with a collaborative team of IT and engineering professionals to collect, process, and interpret data linked to asset performance and condition. You will play a vital role in mapping assets, pulling trends, and transforming raw data into clear, business-friendly insights that directly influence team performance and future improvements.
The Role:
- Organise and cleanse engineering and asset data to make it easy to analyse, interrogate, and present.
- Interpret trends and performance insights against KPIs, sharing clear reports with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Assist with initial data collation, data migration, testing, and workflow updates as part of a major new Enterprise Asset Management System rollout.
- Interrogate core systems (such as Oracle, Maximo, and PMIS) to identify patterns that support preventative maintenance reviews and operational decisions.
- Collaborate with data specialists to define dashboard requirements for advanced reporting tools like Power BI.
- Support the execution of Belfast Harbour's Digital Transformation Programme, using lean principles to streamline workflows and improve data capture.
- Provide administrative support to the Engineering Services team, managing asset records, inspections, and contractor documentation.
Essential Criteria:
- Proficient in Excel with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience manipulating data, using formulas, and creating clear charts/graphs for operational reporting.
- Strong data management skills, with a proven track record of organising, cleaning, and maintaining accurate data sets.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret trends, alongside excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- An HND/degree qualification in Engineering OR strong data analytical skills with a great attitude and a willingness to learn engineering processes.
- A valid Driving Licence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with asset management systems (such as Maximo), including data updates or system migrations.
- Knowledge of reporting tools like Power BI for developing dashboards and insights.
- Understanding of maintenance management, planning processes, or practical experience with mechanical/electrical assets.
- Experience working on estate, port, or infrastructure-related projects.
- Familiarity with business improvement or streamlining workflows.
The Package:
- Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 for candidates with the right blend of engineering and data experience. Strong data backgrounds with limited engineering experience will start around £30,000-£35,000.
- Location: Belfast Harbour / Hybrid (2 days working from home after probation period).
- Bonus: Annual profit-sharing bonus tied to company performance (historically around £1,600, paid biannually).
- Pension: Generous scheme with a 6% employee contribution and a 14% Belfast Harbour contribution.
