The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Network & Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing technical team. This is a newly created position driven by several new customer contracts and offers the opportunity to work on a mix of project delivery and technical support activities across a diverse customer base. The successful candidate will primarily focus on delivering networking projects, including greenfield and brownfield network deployments, while also supporting the wider service desk function during quieter project periods. This role would suit an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on networking, customer engagement, and mentoring colleagues.
The Role
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will take ownership of complex networking deployments and act as a technical escalation point across networking, cloud, and infrastructure technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implementation and deployment of wired and wireless networking solutions
- Installation, configuration and testing of switches, routers and wireless access points
- Delivery of both greenfield and brownfield network projects across customer environments
- Troubleshooting network performance issues, latency, connectivity problems and configuration faults
- Conducting site surveys, audits and deployment planning
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and acting as a technical escalation point
- Providing onsite customer support and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting Microsoft 365 and Azure environments, including administration and troubleshooting
- Producing technical documentation and maintaining monitoring systems
- Managing incidents, requests and problems while meeting agreed SLAs
- Participating in remote monitoring and management of customer environments
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a network-focused engineering role
- Experience leading or taking technical ownership of complex infrastructure and networking deployments
- Strong networking knowledge covering:
- Switching
- Routing
- Wireless networking
- Network troubleshooting and diagnostics
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise network infrastructure
- Strong understanding of RF design principles and controller-based wireless architectures
- Experience conducting onsite deployments, customer engagement and site audits
- Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting experience
- Azure administration and troubleshooting experience
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills
Desirable Experience
- HPE/Aruba networking experience and certifications
- Cisco, Dell, HP or equivalent networking vendor experience
- Experience with Aruba Central, ClearPass or similar network management platforms
- Network monitoring and documentation tools
- Experience supporting high-density wireless environments
