MCS Group are supporting a large public sector team in Newry to recruit a Legal Advisor.
The Key Details:
- £21.56 per hour.
- 6 month temporary contract.
- Travel in and around Newry.
- Hybrid/Flexi working.
- On-site parking.
The Role:

Provide professional, responsive and effective legal advice and services as directed by the Head of Legal Administration.

Manage a varied legal caseload supporting the objectives of internal departments, ensuring decisions are delivered accurately and on time.

Draft, review and negotiate a range of legal documents including contracts, leases, licences and service level agreements.

Conduct legal research, interpret legislation and provide clear advice on administrative law, property, and contractual matters.

Oversee the acquisition, disposal, transfer and letting of land and property assets, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.

Lead on land registration, title regularisation and defence of adverse possession claims, including preparation of applications to the Land Registry.

Coordinate valuation services, maintain the asset register and rent register, and manage service-level performance of external providers.

Prepare and present reports to senior leadership and committees on legal matters within your remit.

Ensure legal systems and processes are efficient and compliant, including use of IT systems to monitor, analyse and report on legal services.

Develop and maintain standard legal documents and provide training on relevant legal policies and procedures.

Represent the organisation in meetings, negotiations and proceedings, ensuring interests are protected and advanced.

Promote best practice, confidentiality, legal compliance and equality in all service delivery, staff engagement and external relations.
The Person:
- A third level qualification in Law or in lieu of a law degree, a third level qualification in any other subject plus a post degree legal qualification e.g. Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
- A minimum of 2 years' experience providing comprehensive legal advice in both conveyancing and contract law.
- Experience in providing legal advice to a diverse range of clients at a senior level.
- Knowledge and experience in drafting, interpreting, negotiating and providing advice on contracts and other legal agreements.
- Competence in the use of all Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to carry out means of the post.
