MCS Group is partnering with an ambitious Belfast-based AI software company that is building enterprise-grade products used in highly secure and complex environments. Following significant growth, they've created a brand-new Lead Front End Engineer position. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Front-End Developer to take ownership of the front-end experience across an entire suite of products, helping shape how users interact with cutting-edge AI technology. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and design. You'll work closely with product, design and engineering teams to build and evolve a shared design system, ensuring consistency, accessibility and exceptional user experiences across multiple applications. If you're passionate about React, TypeScript and creating polished, high-quality interfaces, this is a chance to have a visible impact across an entire product ecosystem.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the development and evolution of a shared component library used across multiple products
- Building accessible, production-ready React components with a strong focus on quality and consistency
- Working closely with designers to translate Storybook specifications into scalable front-end solutions
- Driving adoption of the design system across engineering teams
- Owning visual consistency across applications, from individual components through to larger UI patterns
- Implementing and maintaining design tokens, accessibility standards and visual regression testing
- Mentoring engineers and championing front-end best practices across the business
- Acting as the key bridge between design and engineering
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' experience in Front End Engineering
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript
- Experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems at scale
- Deep understanding of modern front-end architecture and component-based development
- Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
- Ability to collaborate closely with designers and translate design intent into high-quality user experiences
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Salary Up to £90,000 with a benefits package which includes enhanced annual leave and share options.
