MCS Group is partnering with Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service to recruit an Interim Finance Business Partner. This role offers a strategic leadership opportunity for a qualified finance professional within a high‑profile public sector organisation delivering vital services across Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive financial management services to designated Directorates.
  • Support senior leaders with expert advice, robust governance, budgeting, forecasting and strategic decision‑making.
  • Drive value for money, continuous improvement and the development of a modern, responsive finance function.
  • Support major transformation and cross‑border initiatives including the PEACE PLUS TACTICS Programme focused on emergency response interoperability, training and mutual aid across communities.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, CAI or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ relevant experience delivering management accounting and financial analysis services to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic financial management and business partnering.
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Governance, controls and compliance.
  • Influencing senior stakeholders and driving change.
  • Process improvement and performance management.
  • Advanced Excel and strong IT capability.
  • A valid driving licence and access to transport (or suitable transport if a driving disability).

  • Temporary, initially for 12 months with potential for extension.
