We are currently seeking a skilled Information Governance Officer to join our client's Corporate & Support Services Directorate. This role operates on a project basis to address an essential backlog of governance documentation, ensuring organisational compliance with statutory and policy requirements across the council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering on the Council's Information Governance Framework, working collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and partner organisations to maintain effective records management systems.
  • Focus directly on addressing a backlog of governance documentation, including developing, reviewing, and updating Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), and privacy notices.
  • Ensure strict organisational adherence to the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), and other legislative standards.
  • Provide clear, professional advice and guidance to management and internal teams on the application of policies, procedures, and information governance legislation.
  • Deal effectively with a range of internal and external contacts and stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives and promote best practice.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, official correspondence, and monitoring processes to support continuous improvement.

Who We Are Looking For

To be considered for shortlisting, you must meet one of the following educational and experience pathways:

  • A university degree in any discipline, plus 2 years of experience in the following three areas: providing advice and guidance to management on the application of policies, procedures, or legislation; dealing with a range of internal and external contacts/stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives; preparing reports and/or correspondence.
  • A full current driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle OR access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post - Reasonable Adjustments possible.

The Package

  • Salary & Scale: P01 | £39,862/y Pro Rata'd £20.44/h | Paid Weekly
  • Contract & Hours: Temporary for 6 months | 37 Hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Location: Ballymena
