Are you an experienced Fire Safety professional looking to develop your career within a large and progressive organisation? We're recruiting for a Health & Safety Officer (Fire) - Band 5 to join a specialist Fire Safety team, supporting the delivery of expert fire safety advice, compliance and risk management across a diverse healthcare estate. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to apply their expertise, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and play a key role in promoting a strong culture of fire safety compliance.
The Role
- Carry out fire risk assessments, fire drills and fire safety inspections across Trust facilities.
- Provide professional fire safety advice, guidance and support to staff and managers.
- Assist in the development and implementation of fire safety policies, procedures and management systems.
- Support investigations relating to fire incidents, concerns and alarm activations.
- Contribute to fire safety audits, reporting and compliance monitoring activities.
- Identify fire safety training needs and support the delivery of fire safety training programmes.
- Work closely with managers and stakeholders to develop and monitor fire risk action plans.
- Maintain accurate fire safety records, reports and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with current fire legislation and best practice standards.
You will work both independently and collaboratively, ensuring fire safety standards are maintained and continuously improved across the organisation.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification, including undertaking fire risk assessments.
- Relevant experience within a fire safety or health & safety environment.
- Experience completing fire risk assessments across a range of premises.
- Experience delivering training programmes and producing reports.
- Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, guidance and best practice.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
- Full UK driving licence or access to suitable transport.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a healthcare or public sector environment.
- Experience using AutoCAD.
- Additional Fire Safety qualifications (Level 3, 4 or 5 or equivalent).
