Overview
MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a public sector organisation to recruit an environmental health officer on a long term temporary contract (6 months with the view to extension). Excellent hourly rate β Β£20.66 ph + benefits.
The Role
- Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments and related activities across Environmental Health functions including food safety, public health, housing, licensing, environmental protection and wellbeing initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, enforcement policies and codes of practice by issuing statutory notices, preparing evidence, attending court and acting as an expert witness where required.
- Prepare reports, correspondence and responses to service requests, planning and building applications, and government consultations, providing professional advice to businesses, the public and elected members.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, private sector partners and working groups to enhance service delivery, promote awareness campaigns and develop joint initiatives.
- Undertake sampling, monitoring, test purchases and out-of-hours responses while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, procedures and equipment.
- Support staff training, student placements and departmental development while maintaining accurate records, statistics and administrative systems.
- Uphold Council policies and values by promoting equality, health and safety, accountability, continuous improvement and best value in service delivery.
