The Role:
- Perform routine and specialist laboratory procedures relevant to the service.
- Ensure accurate, efficient and high-quality laboratory work in line with relevant procedures, standards and accreditation requirements.
- Contribute to quality control, audits, clinical governance and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory colleagues and wider healthcare professionals to support effective service delivery.
- Manage and prioritise your workload effectively within a busy laboratory environment.
- Contribute to the provision of a 24-hour laboratory service, including out-of-hours cover where required.
The Person
The successful candidate will bring relevant professional qualifications, experience and a commitment to delivering a high-quality laboratory service.
Essential:
- HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Relevant specialist qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant post-registration experience within a Biomedical Science environment.
- Experience or knowledge within a relevant laboratory discipline, such as Haematology, Blood Transfusion or Clinical Chemistry.
- Good understanding of laboratory procedures, quality standards and Health & Safety requirements.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and wider healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and deliver work accurately within a busy environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining professional competence.
- Willingness to contribute to a 24-hour laboratory service and travel between sites where required.
