This is an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Science Assistant to join a busy Pathology department, supporting the delivery of essential diagnostic services that make a real difference to patient outcomes every day. MCS Group are proud to be partnering with a leading public sector organisation in their search for a Healthcare Science Assistant (Band 3) to join their Pathology team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for a highly organised individual with excellent attention to detail who enjoys working in a fast-paced laboratory environment and wants to contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
The Role:
- Receiving, preparing and processing patient specimens for laboratory testing
- Accurately recording patient information and maintaining laboratory records
- Supporting Biomedical Scientists with the day-to-day running of the laboratory
- Operating, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment in line with procedures
- Ensuring all work complies with quality standards, health & safety, and infection prevention policies
- Assisting with stock control and the general organisation of the laboratory environment
- Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver an efficient diagnostic service
The Person
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Essential: 5 GCSE's (or equivalent) including English literature as well as one science subject.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate records
