MCS Group are working with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust (SHSCT) to recruit a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) to join their Pathology Laboratory team based at Craigavon Area Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for an HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with a specialist background in Clinical Biochemistry to work within a fast-paced acute laboratory environment supporting high-quality diagnostic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret a wide range of routine and specialist diagnostic tests within Clinical Biochemistry.
  • Ensure analytical accuracy through quality control procedures and first-line troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
  • Support the supervision and training of Trainee Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants.
  • Contribute to SOP development, audits, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.
  • Participate in shift work, weekends, night duty and on-call rota requirements as required.

Essential Criteria

  • HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • Completion of Specialist Portfolio in Clinical Biochemistry.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory quality standards, including ISO 15189 and GDPR.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport (reasonable adjustments considered where applicable).

Desirable

  • Previous experience working independently/out of hours within a laboratory setting.

Pay: £19.78 per hour. Supportive multidisciplinary working environment.
