MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with this small governmental body in their search for a Comms and Engagement Officer.

The role:

  • Media Monitoring & Reporting: Compile daily media reports for senior management, using judgement to highlight relevant coverage, and maintain regular media evaluation logs and reports.
  • Media Relations: Respond to media enquiries, draft press releases, briefing documents, and support key messaging.
  • Event Planning & Support: Assist in organising and delivering events, managing logistics such as venues, invitations, materials, hospitality, and travel.
  • Content Creation: Develop, write, and edit a variety of communications materials including press releases, blogs, and social media posts.
  • Social Media Management: Create engaging, branded content for social channels using tools like Canva, tailored to different platforms and audiences.
  • Website Management: Maintain and update website content, ensuring it is accurate and aligned with communication goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Admin Support: Build positive relationships with stakeholders and support departmental administration, including procurement processes.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

  • Essential: A third level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., media, journalism, PR, communications, marketing) or extensive experience in the below areas:
  • Strong experience in drafting and publishing communications across press, web, and social media, using CMS tools.
  • Confident in managing media relations and organising events and public engagements.
  • Proficient in administrative support, including MS Office, correspondence, and record management.
